★ ; hello! i really want to ask how come fiction can't affect reality (if you use that logic that is, i'm just curious) when there are several instances of fiction having some sort of effect on other people (for example: jaws putting a bad speculation abt sharks to a large population, or the radio broadcast for war of the worlds that many people believed was real, which caused mass hysteria)? does it only come down to depiction =/= endorsement? im bad at elaborating on stuff, but how come "fiction doesn't affect reality" plays a role within this space if there are instances of fiction affecting it?

i'm not one of the people who claims fiction can't affect reality because it absolutely can! i just think that censorship is very harmful and profic and proship is often harm reduction for people who have intrusive or bad thoughts. instead of actually doing something harmful, we use fiction as an outlet to prevent hurting anyone real until we can find better help. thanks for asking!!
